Chicken

Chicks
I did two chickens. The first one was started after watching project runway with Connie this weekend. I did it without photo reference and found it kinda lacking, so I did another using photo reference. The first one's outline is done with a micron ink pen, the second in graphite. Both are colored with guache in my moleskin. I gave the second chicken a little photoshop darkening around the edges of the image, but other than that they're all hand done. :)

Starbuck the Thoroughbred
Starbuck
I started this illustration for Illustrationology over a month ago, but for some weird reason I never felt like it was any good or even worth finishing. I sketched it out a dozen or so times, and tried painting it three times (second attempt below). Above is the final result – which I'm content with but I'll probably revisit this in the future.

Starbuck(s)
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't disconnect the word from the coffee company...so I ran with a coffee related issue that has come to my attention recently. I didn't know how uncool I was for ordering "girly" drinks from coffee shops in Bend (this includes lattes and mochas) until Jason started ordering espressos. Since then, coffee shop owners and baristas have alluded to how silly all of us latte/mocha drinkers are...oh well, I like my mochas.

"Starbuck"
After much deliberation and a little bit of research I decided to throw it all out the window and have a little fun.
Hope you all don't mind. :)
I also decided to break out my guache, I've had a box of it since color theory back in the day. Usually when I want to do something quick and fun I choose watercolor, but I started this in my moleskin. As much as I love my watercolor, it's just too wimpy for sufficient coverage on my moleskin's paper. Guache's opaque quality proudly stands up to it. I like it.
